Grail
Terms of Use
Last updated: 11 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Emir Yavcin ("we", "us") covering your use of the Grail app. By installing or using Grail you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. What Grail does
Grail identifies baseball cards from a photograph, estimates their condition, shows a value range based on recent market sales, and keeps a record of the cards you save.
2. Valuations are estimates, not appraisals
This is the most important term in this document. Every value Grail shows is an estimate. It is not an appraisal, not a guarantee, and not an offer to buy or sell. Do not treat it as financial or investment advice.
- Value ranges are derived from recent completed sales of cards our providers believe match yours. What your particular card actually sells for may be higher or lower, and often will be.
- Condition strongly affects price, and Grail judges condition from a single photo of the front. It cannot see the back, and one photo hides most surface defects. A professional grader will reach their own conclusion, and it may differ substantially.
- Where recent sales data is unavailable, Grail may show an estimate produced by an AI model instead. The app labels these differently, and they are less reliable.
- Card markets move. A value shown today may be wrong tomorrow, and values stored in your collection reflect the moment the card was added.
You are solely responsible for any decision you make to buy, sell, insure, grade or hold a card. We are not liable for any loss arising from a valuation, an identification, or a condition estimate shown in the app.
3. Identification may be wrong
Card recognition is automated and imperfect, particularly for parallels, variants, reprints and poorly lit photographs. Grail shows a match confidence, and offers a way to flag an incorrect result. Always verify a card yourself before acting on the result.
4. Free scans
New installations include a limited number of free scans. The allowance is per installation and is not transferable. We may change the number of free scans at any time.
5. Subscriptions
Grail Pro is an auto-renewing subscription offering unlimited scans and full access to valuation and collection features.
- Plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the app before you purchase, in your local currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial is offered and you subscribe during it, the trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel first. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms, not by us.
We may change prices. Existing subscribers will be notified in line with App Store rules before any change takes effect for them.
6. Your photos and collection
The photos you scan and the collection you build remain yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to transmit, process and store your photos so they can be recognised, priced and shown back to you, and to keep your collection so it is there when you return. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not publish them.
Do not upload content you have no right to use, or anything unlawful.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Grail for any unlawful purpose, or to misrepresent a card's value to someone else;
- Reverse engineer the app, or attempt to access our servers other than through the app;
- Scrape, bulk-extract or resell data obtained through Grail;
- Interfere with the service or place unreasonable load on it.
We may suspend access if you breach these terms.
8. Third-party data
Market data comes from third-party providers and public marketplaces. We do not control that data and do not warrant its accuracy, completeness or availability. Card names, set names and manufacturer marks belong to their respective owners; Grail is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Major League Baseball, any card manufacturer, or any grading company.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Grail working but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and parts of the service depend on third parties who may change or withdraw their own. We may modify or discontinue the app, with notice where reasonably possible.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grail is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 USD. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost value on any card.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer you keep all statutory rights that cannot be excluded.
11. Termination
You may stop using Grail at any time by deleting the app; remember to cancel any subscription separately through Apple. We may terminate or suspend access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms takes away the consumer protections you have under the law of the country you live in. Where those laws give you rights that cannot be waived, those rights apply regardless of anything written here.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use Grail after a change means you accept the updated terms.
