Weight Scanner

Weight Scanner · Privacy

Privacy, in plain words.

Weight Scanner turns a photo into an estimate. To do that and to keep your scan history, it handles your photos and a small amount of usage data. There is no sign-up, we never ask for your name, and we do not sell personal information or show ads.

Effective date · October 15, 2026

The short version

The app identifies your device with an anonymous ID, not an account. Photos are used to produce your estimate and are stored only if you keep "Keep photos with scans" on. Scan history and daily free-scan counts are stored with Google Firebase. Purchases go through Apple and RevenueCat. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Weight Scanner ("Weight Scanner," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Weight Scanner iOS or iPadOS application (the "App") or contact us for support.

2. Information handled by the App

Photos and scans

When you take a photo with the camera or choose one from your photo library, the App uses it to produce the result for the tool you selected: weight, size, count, coin value, or colors. The photo may be sent to our estimation service, which may rely on third-party image-analysis providers, solely to produce that result.

The App only accesses the camera while you are on the camera screen and only reads the specific photo you pick from your library. It does not browse or upload the rest of your library.

Scan history

When you save a scan, the App stores the result (for example the object name, tool, estimated values and the time of the scan) in Google Firebase, linked to your anonymous ID, so your History is available in the App. If "Keep photos with scans" is on, the photo is stored with that history entry in Firebase Storage. If you turn it off, saved scans no longer include photos.

Identifiers and usage limits

The App does not require an account. To work without one, it uses:

  • An app-specific device identifier provided by iOS (identifier for vendor), used to link your scan history, free-scan count and purchases. It is not the advertising identifier.
  • An anonymous Firebase Authentication ID that secures access to your data.
  • Usage counters such as the number of free scans used today, total and successful scans, the time you last opened the App, and the country and language settings of your device.

App analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used, for example which tools are used, whether a scan succeeded, and when the subscription screen is shown or a purchase is started. These events include device and app information such as model, operating-system version, app version and approximate region. They do not include your photos or scan results, and they are not used for advertising.

Purchase and subscription information

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Weight Scanner uses RevenueCat to display plans, validate and restore purchases, and determine whether Pro features are available. RevenueCat may process the anonymous device identifier described above, device type, operating system, locale and currency, App Store receipt and transaction data, product identifiers, and subscription status. We never receive your payment-card details.

Settings on your device

Preferences such as units, the tool the camera opens on, the "Show likely range", "Keep photos with scans" and Haptics toggles, and whether you finished onboarding are stored only on your device.

Support communications

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message and screenshots.

3. What we do not collect

Weight Scanner does not ask for your name, email address or phone number (unless you email us), and does not access your contacts, precise location, microphone, or Apple Health data. We do not use the advertising identifier, do not show third-party ads, do not sell personal information, and do not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

4. How information is used

Information is used only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Produce estimates from your photos and show your results.
  • Keep your scan history and, if you choose, the photos with it.
  • Apply the daily free-scan limit and provide Pro features.
  • Process, verify, restore and support App Store purchases.
  • Understand app usage, fix problems and improve the App.
  • Respond to support requests, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.

5. Service providers and disclosure

We share information only with service providers that operate the App on our behalf, when you ask us to, or when required by law.

  • Apple: App distribution, camera and photo access, in-app purchases, subscriptions and refunds. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Firebase: anonymous authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, Remote Config and Analytics. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
  • RevenueCat: purchase validation, entitlement management and purchase analytics. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Image-analysis providers: process the photo you scan to produce the estimate, under contractual terms that limit use of the data to providing that service.

These providers may process information in the United States, the European Union or other countries where they operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

6. Retention and deletion

Saved scans and their photos are kept until you ask us to delete them. Usage counters are kept while you use the App. Settings stored on your device are removed when you delete the App. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics retention settings, and Apple and RevenueCat keep transaction records according to their own obligations and policies.

To request a copy or deletion of the data linked to your device, email us from the address below and include the date you started using the App. We may ask for a screenshot of the App's Settings screen to locate your records. Some purchase records may need to be kept for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

  • Turn off "Keep photos with scans" in Settings to stop storing photos.
  • Revoke camera or photo-library access at any time in iOS Settings. The App will not be able to scan without one of them.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a portable copy, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.

8. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and protected by access rules that require an authenticated app session. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and you are responsible for protecting access to your device and Apple Account.

9. Children's privacy

Weight Scanner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated in the App or through another appropriate channel when required.
